Your legal rights
If you are buying as a consumer, you have legal rights under UK consumer law.
These include rights where products are faulty, damaged, not as described, or where digital content or services do not meet legal standards.
Nothing in this policy limits or removes your statutory rights.
Change-of-mind returns for physical products bought online
For most physical products bought online, you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving the goods.
You do not need to give a reason.
After telling us you want to cancel, you usually have another 14 days to return the goods to us.
To cancel, use your customer account: https://account.northkindpress.co.uk or contact us at:
Please include:
-
your name
-
order number
-
the item or items you want to return
-
your contact details
Condition of returned items
Returned items should be unused and in a condition suitable for resale, unless they are faulty.
You are responsible for taking reasonable care of the items while they are with you.
We may reduce your refund if an item has been handled more than necessary to inspect it.
For example, it is fine to look at a book carefully.
It is not fine to return a book that has been written in, damaged, heavily used, stained, bent, torn or marked, unless it arrived that in that way. If it arrived in that way, you must tell us immediately and take photos of the external original packaging.
Return postage
For change-of-mind returns, you are responsible for the cost of returning the item to us, unless we agree otherwise.
We recommend using a tracked or proof-of-postage service.
We are not responsible for returned items that are lost in transit.
If the item is faulty, damaged, incorrect or not as described, we will deal with return postage in line with your legal rights.
Refunds for change-of-mind returns
Where you cancel a physical goods order within the legal cancellation period, we will refund:
-
the price paid for the returned item
-
standard delivery costs, where the whole order is returned
We do not have to refund extra delivery costs if you chose a more expensive delivery option than our standard delivery.
If you only return part of an order, we may not refund the original delivery cost.
We will usually refund you within 14 days of receiving the returned goods, or within 14 days of you providing evidence that you have sent them back.
Refunds will usually be made to the original payment method.
Items that cannot usually be returned for change of mind
Some items cannot usually be returned unless they are faulty.
This may include:
-
personalised or custom-made products
-
made-to-order items
-
digital downloads once access has started, where you agreed to immediate access and acknowledged that you would lose your cancellation right
-
sealed items that are not suitable for return for health or hygiene reasons once unsealed
-
event tickets, workshops or dated bookings where specific cancellation terms apply
-
products that have been used, damaged, or altered after delivery
This does not affect your rights if an item is faulty, damaged or not as described.
Faulty, damaged or incorrect items
If your item is faulty, damaged, incorrect, or not as described, please contact us as soon as possible at:
Please include:
-
your order number
-
a description of the issue
-
photographs of the item, and the external packaging showing the condition of it, if the item is damaged
Depending on the circumstances and your legal rights, we may offer:
-
a replacement
-
a repair, where appropriate
-
a refund
-
another suitable solution
Please do not return damaged or faulty items without contacting us first, unless we have already agreed the return.
Digital products
Digital products may include PDFs, templates, worksheets, writing prompts, downloadable resources, videos, online lessons or subscription content.
If you buy digital content and ask for immediate access, you will lose your 14-day right to cancel once access begins, provided you have agreed to this and acknowledged it before access starts.
If digital content is faulty, you may still have legal rights.
If you cannot access a digital product because of a technical issue, please contact us and we will try to help.
Subscriptions and memberships
Subscription and membership cancellation terms will be explained on the relevant subscription page or at the point of purchase.
If a subscription includes digital content, access may begin immediately after purchase.
If a subscription includes physical products, the returns position may depend on whether the product has already been dispatched, personalised or used.
Cancelling a subscription stops future renewals. It does not automatically refund payments already taken unless the subscription terms, this policy or your legal rights say otherwise.
Workshops, school visits and events
Workshops, school visits, author talks, creative sessions and events may have their own cancellation terms.
These terms will be shared at the time of booking where relevant.
If you need to cancel a booking, please contact us as soon as possible.
Where we cancel a workshop, visit or event, we will usually offer a rearranged date or appropriate refund.
If we cannot provide a service with reasonable care and skill, you may have legal rights.
Pre-orders
You can cancel a pre-order before it has been dispatched, unless it is personalised, custom-made, or otherwise excluded.
If a pre-order has already been dispatched, the usual return rules for physical products apply.
If a pre-order is significantly delayed, we will contact you.
Exchanges
We may offer exchanges where stock is available.
Please contact us before returning an item for exchange.
If the replacement item costs more, you will need to pay the difference.
If it costs less, we will refund the difference.
Additional delivery charges may apply unless the exchange is due to our error or a faulty item.

Please include:
